b. c. 1850 (51 in the 1901 census) in Sunderland, Co Durham. Was a joiner in an iron works factory living in Orchard Street, Birtley, in 1901 census. Picture. Lived at Orchard Street Cottage, Birtley in 1881. Buried at Birtley churchyard. There’s a sort of family plot there. Used to cut the grass of his own grave! | |

They had a daughter, Maureen born in 1934. She married and they adopted a boy and a girl as Maureen was unable to have children due to contracting peritonitis as some point. |
