WHO ARE WE? Friends of King's Park was formed by residents living in Bournemouth at the end of 1999 when they became concerned about proposed developments within the Park. They decided that an organisation was needed in order to provide a formal structure for disseminating information to townspeople and a point of contact for the Council and other bodies should any other developments be proposed. A map showing the Park's location can be found here. OUR AIMS Our aims are simple and are shown in our Constitution thus: 1. To preserve and protect the open space of King's Park OUR PURPOSE We are a peaceful, non-profit making, apolitical organisation whose main concern is that land which has been held in Trust for the people of Bournemouth for many years remains that way and that the spirit of Five Parks law is upheld. Also that public open space within King's Park (outside the Five Parks area) is maintained and preserved. OUR STRUCTURE We have a Committee, which is comprised of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and six other members. We hold regular committee meetings, which are minuted. Committee meeting minutes are available for inspection by any full or associate member on request. We will hold at least two public meetings a year, one of which will be the Annual General Meeting, to which all members will be invited. FURTHER INFORMATION Further information, and a copy of our constitution, can be obtained by writing to the Secretary at the address above or emailing the address below. HOW YOU CAN JOIN You can join by writing to the Secretary at the address given above and asking for a membership form. There are two levels of membership - full and associate. Full membership is for residents of the Borough of Bournemouth and Associate membership is for people living outside the Borough but who share our aims and objectives. The only difference between the two types of membership is that Associate members cannot sit on the Committee. However, they have the same voting rights as full members at public meetings. Current membership fees are set at £5.00 for individual members and £7.50 for family membership. email: fokp@fsa.co.uk
