Implications for the future

NOTE: The text on this page was written prior to Nominet's decision being announced. We've decided to keep it as a record of our feelings at the time.

The fate of our domain name is now in the hands of Nominet. If they decide not to find in our favour, it will have serious implications for anyone who's bought a domain name in good faith. It means that if small company A takes out domain name B, then company C is formed and ends up becoming Very Big, they will then be able to take company A's domain name from them for nothing. They be able to do this on a trumped up charge of confusion by making a couple of misdirected e-mails.

Hardly fair!

And what if Nominet do find in our favour? Will we then have to spend the next few months waiting for the High Court writ to land on the door mat? The other FSA have their own in-house team of lawyers and barristers. We don't. We will then have to trawl through the yellow pages and attempt to find a 'no win no fee' lawyer who is prepared to take up the case and fight the government on our behalf.

Again, not fair....
