We are going to appeal against the decision because we believe we should
not be held responsible for someone else's carelessness in typing an address.
We believe that Nominet's decision that this is evidence of confusion will have
serious repercussions through out the internet world. The wildcard e-mail system
is used by many small businesses throughout the world as it is the cheapest and
most efficient way to make and change e-mail addresses as the business grows.
We are going to review our e-mail procedures and explore the possibility of setting
up some sort of automatic 'bouncing back' of e-mails which are clearly not for us.
This naturally will involve us in additional expense but we are prepared to pay it.
We will then ask Nominet to review their decision in the light of the changes.
It will be interesting to see what the other FSA do then...
