William WOODFORD   c. 15.02.1824, Old Dalby, Ref 1. 1841 census, with Mum and Dad, an apprentice. Not found in 1851 census. Married Mariann PICK 03.04.1855, Old Dalby Ref 1. 1861 census, a master joiner, employing 1 man, in Old Dalby.

1871 census, he's living next door to his Dad, John, in Old Dalby, A carpenter. He also, in 1871, has his niece, Elisabeth HATTON with him as a domestic servant. He also has two apprentices, William TUCKWOOD age 20 and William BISHOP age 17.

1881 census, still in Old Dalby, carpenter and grazier employing 1 man and 2 apprentices. One of his apprentices is with him - Thomas UNDERWOOD aged 19. Also has a servant, Joseph HYMAN aged 14 and a Lodger, George STANHOPE age 30, a railway labourer. His niece, Sarah E WOODFORD, aged 19 is also a domestic servant 1891.

1901 census, a widowed grazier still in Old Dalby he has two grandchildren, Mary A, age 15 and Edith E age 13, both born Melton Mowbray, assumed to be children of William John.

Mariann PICK   b. abt 1829, Highclere, Hampshire. Shown as Mary Ann or Mary A in the censuses. 1861, 1871, 1881 census, with William. Died September quarter 1885 Ref 2.

1851 census shows her living at Rose Cottage, Old Dalby with her  widowed father, William PICK b. abt 1796, Winterbourne, Wiltshire - a butler

William John   b. abt 1857, Lambeth, Surrey. 1861, 1871 census, with Mum and Dad. 1881 census, lodging with his Uncle Andrew's family in Lutterworth. Not found in 1891 or 1901 census. However, freebmd  Ref 2 shows a marriage between Elizabeth WELLS and William John WOODFORD, December quarter 1882. In the 1891 census, Elizabeth WOODFORD, age 35, born Hungerton, is living on her own means in Dalby. She has the following children with her:

In the 1901 census, Elizabeth WOODFORD  is living with her widowed mother, Elizabeth WELLS age 72 in High Street, Dalby On The Wolds. Elizabeth WELLS is a grazier and stilton cheese manufacturer. Elizabeth WOODFORD is shown as married. Two of her children, William, a grazier, and Walter are with her. Mary and Edith are with Grandad William as shown above. She says she's married. So, where is William hiding?

Walter Edgar   b. abt 1860, York Town, Surrey, 1861, 1871 census, with Mum and Dad . Not found in 1881. 1891 census, he appears to be a valet for Bertram CURRIE, at 1 Richmond Terrace, Westminster. 1901 census, he's unmarried and a Butler for Bertram's son, Laurence, at Mindley manor, Hawley, Southamptonshire
Albert Ernest   b. abt 1863, Old Dalby, 1871, 1881 census, with Mum and Dad. With Dad in 1891 and 1901 census, a farmer with his wife Frances Ann ROGERS born abt 1869, Barrowden, Rutland. 1901 census - no children
